About Me
I'm Emre. I'm a software developer who builds stuff I love using. Having worked with several programming languages/frameworks, I'm currently writing an app called Koli in Rust & Slint.
In my other projects, I've also worked with TypeScript, Python, and Java.
I've self-hosted several services for personal use, such as note-taking, CardDAV & CalDAV, password manager servers, and so on
Although I've recently switched to a Mac, I'd used Linux distros as my main OS between 2018-2026 (did use arch too btw).
Currently, I'm continuing the never-ending journey of learning, developing Koli, which I have long-term plans for, and is not just a "to show on your CV" project, and trying to navigate my life between fast-pacing developments in the world and within the software engineering specifically, and focusing on my goals and improving my skills on adapting and problem-solving.
About this website
This website is built with Eleventy, with colors of Gruvbox dark.
I used to use Hugo until October 2026, and while it served me well for a good couple of years, I find 11ty is much more flexible and easier to work with if you want to do your own stuff, especially if you don't want to be restricted by a specific framework. Maybe I will write a blog post about that!
Disclaimer: All posts and content of this website is human-written. I use LLMs in my projects[1], not for vibe-coding stuff, but for AI-assisted development, although the line between them can really be thin sometimes, and lots claim doing the latter while actually doing the prior. I care about "magic of the machine"[2], while also caring about not being a luddite, and embracing the change, especially when it's so obvious that these tools can be such productivity boosters when used correctly.
For instance, this website, although the layout, behaviour, and theme was decided entirely by me, was built with an LLM. Would I be able to build such website without it? Yes. Would it be in an evening? Absolutely not! It's still something I can proudly say "It's mine!", After all, I didn't prompt "Build me a nice static website with eleventy, make no mistakes". ↩︎
